Mr. Md. Abu Bakar Siddiq (surname: Sohel) joined the department of law on March 14, 2017 and has been serving there with honesty and integrity.He completed LL.B.(Hons.) and LL.M. in International Human Rights Law at University of Dhaka and awarded merit scholarship on undergraduate result. Before joining, he practiced as an advocate in the Dhaka Bar Association and then enrolled in the Supreme Court Bar Association, where he involved himself in public interest litigation on public health and environment. Since joining, he has had to actively participate in academic as well as extracurricular activities. He completed the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded "Train-the-Trainers Program" on 'the ADB Regional Capacity Development Technical Assistance: Strengthening the Capacity for Environmental and Climate Change Laws in Asia-Pacific', held in Kathmandu, Nepal, in November 2018 in collaboration with the Tribhuvan University of Nepal. Moreover, he was trained two times by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on "Expert Workshop with University Faculty Members: Teaching on Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants" in collaboration with Global Action against Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants-Bangladesh (GLOACT-Bangladesh), funded by the European Union, held in Dhaka in 2020 and 2023. He has a keen interest in working for human rights standards upliftment in different sectors and prefers to work mostly for women and children, minorities, migrant workers, refugees, and juveniles. He would also like to act in collaboration with multinational organizations for the full realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
