Dr. Md. Abu Taher is currently serving as a Professor (Grade-II) in the Department of Physics at Comilla University, Bangladesh. He has more than 22 years of teaching experience at different universities in Bangladesh. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Physics from 2011 to 2017 at Comilla University. He also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Science at Comilla University for four years (Two Terms).

In addition, Prof. Taher has held several important academic and administrative positions, including Registrar (Additional Charge) of Comilla University from 2018 to 2022 and Provost of Nawab Foyjunnesa Chowdhurani Hall from 2011 to 2013. He joined the Department of Physics at Comilla University as an Associate Professor in 2011. Prior to joining Comilla University, he worked at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), and the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

At Comilla University, Prof. Taher teaches several undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Thin Film Technology, Plasma Physics, and Statistical Mechanics. His research primarily focuses on Condensed Matter Physics, and he has published a significant number of research articles in reputed national and international journals.

Prof. Taher completed his Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 2000. His doctoral research was entitled "Galvanomagnetic Properties of InSb Thin Films Prepared by Vacuum Evaporation." Throughout his academic career, he has received several scholarships and awards in recognition of his academic and research excellence.

  • Actively participated in preparing the DPP of “Further Development of Comilla University” (Cost: 165550.00 Lakh Taka), which was approved by the ECNEC on 23 October 2018.
